Prime Minister Kurti thanked Sullivan for his contribution and support to Kosovo, and for lasting peace, long-term stability and regional security.
Sullivan voiced US support for the EU-mediated dialogue to reach a comprehensive agreement on the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia and the need for further progress on key unresolved issues.
Emphasizing that the Government of Kosovo is determined that constitutionality, territorial integrity, sovereignty and legality remain intact, Prime Minister Kurti reiterated that the dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia should be a principled dialogue that respects the equality of the parties in the talks and at the center. of the agreement has mutual recognition.
The dialogue for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by the European Union, started in 2011.
The parties have reached dozens of agreements, but most of them have not been implemented on the ground.
On May 14, the foreign ministers of the group of seven most industrialized countries in the world (G7) called on the two countries to engage constructively in dialogue and reach an agreement on the normalization of relations.
The meeting also discussed the occupation and aggression in Ukraine and the destabilizing efforts of Russia and its extensions in the region.
Talking about the security aspect, Prime Minister Kurti said that the Republic of Kosovo is prepared to deepen the partnership based on common values with the United States and is committed to its path of integration into the European Union and greater involvement. in the Partnership for Peace Program, as a first step towards NATO membership.
Sullivan expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to Afghan refugees and their temporary accommodation in Kosovo.
