The President of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka has given an interview for “La Republicca”, where he spoke about the organization of the great and historic final of the UEFA Conference League, which will take place in Tirana on May 25, at the stadium. Air Albania ”.
For the Duke, this final comes to Albania thanks to several years of work, while he says that the whole process of preparations is going quite well. President Duka also talks about the stadium “Air Albania” and its capacity as well as security for this important match.
– President, for the first time in Albania, a final of a UEFA competition will be organized. How do you feel?
– It is a great pride for us to bring to our country the first historic final of the UEFA Conference League. We have worked so hard all these years to make Tirana, at least for one day, the center of European football. We are proud of this achievement, a few days are missing from the final, but everything is going very well in terms of preparations. We are ready!
– I do not know if you have read the controversy in Italy and the Netherlands regarding the organization of this event.
– They are all unnecessary controversies. How do you say it in Italian? Malicious more precisely. They are a source of prejudices against Albanians. We are capable of organizing such an important event and we will prove it best.
– A stadium with 21 thousand seats for spectators, is not it small for a European final?
– The National Arena is a jewel, it is the best plant in our country and meets all UEFA criteria. If it were not so they would not believe us hosting a final. Perhaps such a large demand for tickets was not expected from the two finalists.
– A few days ago the Feynoord club published a press release with harsh notes on how to sell tickets.
– I do not understand what the Dutch club is complaining about. With a capacity of 21,000 seats, Rome and Feynoord had 4,000 tickets available each, almost 20% of the total capacity. The rest is sold to the general public according to UEFA regulations.
– Are you aware of the fact that a very large number of fans who do not have tickets will arrive in Tirana?
– This always happens at every major football event. Do you think that Real Madrid and Liverpool fans will not go to Paris for the Champions League final without tickets? Or in Seville for the Europa League final? I mean something, for those who will not be able to enter the stadium it will be an opportunity to experience the festive atmosphere of a final, in a place that perhaps many of them have never visited before.
– Can there be security issues?
– Absolutely not. We are ready to welcome all those who want to come to Tirana, thanks to an organizational working group set up specifically for this event. In Tirana there will be two “fan zones” dedicated to Rome and Feynoord fans. Furthermore, the capital’s airport and the port of Durrës will be the first two entry points with control and surveillance systems to avoid contacts between the two fans.
– It is a final that seems to represent a very good opportunity for the tourism business.
– This is not an argument that falls within my competence. I know there are high expectations, but we are talking about a European final. However, I can tell you that it is not only Tirana, but also in Durrës, which is only 30 minutes away from the capital, they tell me that many Rome fans will gather.
– Since we are in Rome and Feynoord, who will you cheer for?
– From the beginning of the competition, I hoped that Rome would come to the final. We are two very close peoples, I have a lot in common with Italy. On May 25, I will cheer for Rome.
