The G7 countries closed their meeting in Germany with the clear statement that the new borders that Russia intends to establish will never be accepted.
The seven most industrialized countries in the world have indicated that “their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea, and of all other states, will continue.”
“They also drew attention to Belarus, stressing that the leadership in Minsk must act to stop Russian aggression and meet its international obligations.”
The foreign ministers, meanwhile, focused on the global effects of the war. “Russian aggression in Ukraine and Russia’s unilateral actions to restrict Ukrainian agrarian exports have led to strong price increases in raw material markets.
This leads to a threat to “global food security,” the final statement said. The G7 countries have called on Russia to “immediately stop attacks on important transport infrastructure, including ports, so that they can be used to export Ukraine’s agricultural products.”
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock even accused Moscow of Russia of a “grain war.”
The government in Moscow is trying to deliberately expand Ukraine’s war around the world, she said, stressing that we should not be naive and that Russia is aiming to create the ground for weakening international unity.
