A man has been hailed as a ‘hero’ today after rescuing from the fall a little girl hanging outside an eighth-floor window in Kazakhstan.
The child is believed to have used pillows and toys to climb on the window sill before slipping and hanging from his fingertips.
She was reportedly left alone at home in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan, while her mother had gone out to the Bazaar.
A large crowd had gathered under the window and watched in horror as the child was barely held on the window sill.
But 37-year-old Sabit Shontakbaev, and a friend of his who were going to work noticed the riot and immediately knocked on the entrance of the apartment under the window where the child was.
The father of four managed to be found outside below the child in danger.
Sabit said: “I did not have seat belts so my friend was holding my legs. “At that moment I was just thinking of helping the child.”
“I did not see her parents at all.”
“I saved the child and left, but in the news and on social networks they were calling me ‘hero’.”
“But I do not consider my actions heroic, for me everyone should help in such situations.”
Sabit is already truly a hero after being awarded a medal by the Deputy. the country’s minister of emergencies.
He was also given a new apartment by the authorities, in which he can live with his extended family.
The ministry statement said that “hero” Shontakbaev Sabit, born in 1985, after seeing the child crying, without hesitation took emergency action, grabbing and rescuing the girl for a few seconds.
The ministry used the dramatic case as a warning: “This was an unfortunate case when the child was rescued, but many such similar incidents end in tragedy.”
“Never leave your children unattended.”
