A plane with 122 people on board derailed in Chongqing, China, and was engulfed in flames.
There were 113 passengers and 9 crew members on board. More than 40 people were injured and taken to hospital, the airport said.
All persons on board the Tibet Airlines TV9833 flight from Chongqing to Nyingchi in the Tibet Autonomous Region have been evacuated, the China Civil Aviation Administration said.
The plane exploded in flames after taking off from the runway at Chongqing Airport. At the time of the explosion, the plane emitted black smoke as people ran to save their lives.
A team was sent to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire, which started after the plane’s engine rubbed on the ground as it derailed.
