Mesila Doda, chairwoman of one of the opposition parliamentary groups that is negotiating with the majority for the new President of the Republic, declares her agreement with the draft proposed by Enkelejd Alibeaj.
In a Facebook post, Doda writes that in the draft there are concepts that they share with the head of the PD parliamentary group.
“I remain of the opinion of a president who comes from politics and is acceptable to all parties.” – writes Doda.
Full post:
I was recognized by the media on the draft prepared by Mr. Alibeaj believes that in the draft there are concepts that we share.
First, the Constitution clearly states that the President, as the head of state and the representative of the unity of the people, must obtain the support of a qualified majority, and it is obligatory to seek consensus in parliament. What are the selection formulas can be discussed but it is important to emphasize that consensus is mandatory by the Constitution and not an option for the majority. Otherwise we would have only one president as a solution to the parliamentary crisis but not a representative of the unity of the people.
Secondly and this is also very important, I do not understand why we tend to exclude politics from the presidency… if there is a post for excellence, where a political person is needed is that of the president. No one can prejudice and exclude politics from the Presidency. There are among us, from left and right, many personalities who fulfill the wider representation than their political forces. We must respect our profession and accept that there are personalities among us who deserve trust and respect, prerogatives which the post of President has as mandatory.
I remain of the opinion of a president who comes from politics and is acceptable to all parties.
