The spring period is mostly liked by foreign tourists to visit our country and learn about its history.
As we meet them on the streets of Tirana, they tell us about the experience and impressions that Albania has left on you.
“It’s very good here, we will stay for two weeks. We have visited several cities in Albania so far, a very beautiful place. We like to visit different countries and we have never been to Albania and we have heard beautiful stories about your country. We are from the Netherlands. Very good experience. We started our visit from Berat, then we went to Dhërmi, Ksamil, we did hiking in Valbona and now we are here in Tirana “said the tourist.
“You have very beautiful beaches and very nice and friendly people”said another tourist.
“This is the first time and for me in Albania, it is very beautiful. “Hiking was the part we liked the most.”said the tourist.
Although there is an increase in bookings compared to last year for cultural tourism, the impact that the war had on Ukraine has led to a high number of cancellations.
“Reservations have started, normally they started in March, in May now we should be at the peak of the season. There is an increase compared to last year but again there are pretty cancellations for April and March. Over 50% of cultural tours have been canceled for various reasons, of course the war had a psychological impact but is continuing. At the moment the biggest step is from the war but there are other impacts, for example rising prices have quite an impact“, Said tour operator Jimi Lama.
English and Israeli tourists are the ones who prefer cultural tours but this year the market is feeling the lack of Ukrainians.
“They start with Tirana, then the much visited Kruja, Durrës, Berat Apolonia, Vlora, Saranda, Gjirokastra. We mostly work with the English and Israeli market. The Ukrainian market in 2021 saved tourism in Albania, there were over 110 thousand tourists who came last year, but more for beach tourism and not cultural“, Said Lama.
With the arrival of summer, the number of tourists who choose the Albanian coast to spend their holidays is expected to increase.
