Another group cooperating between the UN and the Red Cross is on its way to the Azovstal steel plant, where Ukrainians have been stranded for several weeks.
The UN special envoy for Ukraine, Martin Griffiths, said another evacuation convoy hoped to arrive at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol tomorrow morning.
“Now, the column is continuing to reach Azovstal until tomorrow morning, hoping to receive those civilians who have been left in that grim hell for so many weeks and months and bring them back to safety.”said Griffiths.
He spoke at the Ukrainian Donors’ Conference in Warsaw and said the UN was working with the International Committee of the Red Cross to move the convoy to Mariupol, as it did in the Azovstal civilian evacuation operation over the weekend.
For several weeks, the Azovstal steel plant has been facing intense attacks from the Russian side, while according to the Ukrainian authorities, approximately 200 civilians have been trapped.
