On the eve of “May 1”, Workers’ Day, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj thanked all employees who take care of the work and services in the city, and expressed his gratitude to the 11 oldest employees of the municipality among years, who serve in various enterprises of the city.
Giving them a certificate of appreciation, Veliaj thanked them for their work, sacrifice and dedication in serving the community. Veliaj stressed that all employees serving in the city municipality have merit for the positive changes that Tirana is undergoing today. He stressed that what has made Tirana a great city and a consolidated city, is the gratitude for each other’s work.
“Gratitude and appreciation for the work of others is the right way to thank someone in a family like the city of Tirana. What has made Tirana a big city and a consolidated city, with a team of 10 thousand people in staff, serving from corner to corner, from Zall Bastari to Ndroq, from Krraba to Kashar, is exactly the gratitude we have for the work “to each of us,” he said.
Veliaj described “May 1” as a day of reflection on the sacrifices of everyone who works for Tirana, to have a better city. I would like on this eve of “May 1” to have a moment to reflect a little. “I am very grateful for this contribution, for the ashes, the sweat, for all the working hours outside the official hours, for the weekends missed with the family, so I wanted this to be the day when we dedicate ourselves to the institution of gratitude”, he added.
The Mayor underlined that Tirana is a city destined to grow, as it is the place of opportunities for Albanians. “In the face of this extraordinary urbanization of Tirana, one of the challenges is to explain what is happening. Sometimes, those who become more racist are those who have just come here, in these years of transition. When complaining about traffic or construction, everyone should ask themselves a question: ‘You also came to Tirana because you made the decision to come to the land of opportunity. Many others are making this decision today. The decision to go to work at 08:00 in the morning is being made by another 200 thousand others who have a car. The decision to educate the children is being taken by another 150 thousand families who bring their children as students to Tirana “, declared Veliaj.
In the end, the mayor handed them certificates of appreciation for everything they have done to have a better city.
