Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin has stated that her country will decide “soon” whether to join the NATO alliance.
At a press conference with her Greek counterpart during her visit to Athens, she called for more sanctions against Russia.

“The parliament and the government of Finland together with the president will assess all the implications of the new security situation and will have to consider whether to apply for NATO membership. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said at noon on Thursday that Finland and Sweden could become NATO allies very soon if they decide to apply by reaching an agreement to overcome the intermediate period when membership must be formally ratified. and finalized in the 30 parliaments of the Alliance member states.
Despite the dilemma of some countries about this fact, Stoltenberg estimates that the membership of the two northern neighbors will send a “strong political message” that their security is important for all NATO allies.
In the face of the possibility that Finland and Sweden will decide to join, Moscow has stated that it will deploy nuclear weapons and hypersonic missiles in its Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad on its 1,300-kilometer border with Finland.
