US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried said that in the meeting she had with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti, they did not express any conditions for dialogue with Serbia.
Donfried in an interview for T7, said that Kurti and Osmani have expressed readiness to engage seriously and creatively in dialogue, asking for no conditions.
“The clear meaning I have from what both the president and the prime minister have told me is that there is a willingness to engage seriously and creatively in dialogue and there was no condition that was expressed on this.“, Said Donfried.
“Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak with President Osmani and Prime Minister Kurti. I think they share our sense of how important it is for the EU-facilitated dialogue to move forward. In my view, it is clear that Kosovo’s future is as a member of the EU and NATO. Crucial to moving towards those goals is a comprehensive agreement aimed at normalizing relations with Serbia focused on mutual recognition. We see this dialogue facilitated by the EU as a key part of it and that is why we are so eager to see progress. I do not know the specific timelines, but I think we will see positive moves if there is will from all sides“, Added Donfried.
