Ilir Krosi was declared the winner of the Democratic Party branch in Debar, in the elections that were held today in this city.
Krosi collected 528 votes of the PD membership, against 148 received by the other candidate Hamza Lleshi.
Five ballots were declared invalid. The voting process opened at 8.00 am and closed at 5.00 pm and then the counting of votes continued.
Elections according to the principle of one member, one vote were held in some of the branches of the Democratic Party in the country, while the process is expected to continue in the coming days. The election of new mayors is an initiative of the Re-establishment group led by Sali Berisha and opposed by the other group that supports Enkelejd Alibeaj.
The commanding chairman of the Democratic Party, Alibeaj, has stated that in this way, Berisha is deepening the division in the Democratic Party and is not contributing to the unification of the party, as the former prime minister claims.
