Historian Marenglen Kasmi sees the process of electing a new president as a pure political game.
Invited this evening in “Top Story” with Sokol Balla, Kasmi said that Albanians already want a correct process based on the constitution.
He proposed setting up a commission to set some rules for the process, otherwise it would be unproductive.
Marenglen Kasmi: I believe that all Albanians want a fair process, based on the constitution. It basically remains a pure political game to have a product that is as acceptable as possible. A procedure is done, but we see that a path is opened for other candidates as well. This leads to two different rails, the involvement of civil society falls to be elected by the people, but the constitution provides otherwise. If the rules are not clear, the process will be the same. In my eyes some measures should have been taken, the establishment of a commission. Define some standard rules. I find the process unproductive.
