With the novel “Yellow Pusulla” Vera Bekteshi wins the literary award “Kadare”.
Among the 25 participants, 5 finalists and her three times ranking in the top list of this award, Bekteshi brings a strong and emancipatory book. A first-person narrative, intertwined with personal experiences, this book is dedicated to people with different abilities and their challenges in a society still schematic and exclusive to change.
The first winner of the Kadare Award, Rudolf Marku, described this award as the most honorable and prestigious in Albanian literature.
An alliance of women, described Belina Budini, dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Liberal Arts at UET and a member of the jury.
Vera Bekteshi said that this is a difficult book. Revealing that it took him four years to bring it to life.
With this book, Bekteshi joins the publications of other authors who won the Kadare Prize, which just crowned the seventh edition.
The first winner, with the novel “Three divorces of God Viktor N.”, was the writer Rudolf Marku, in 2015, followed a year later by Shkëlqim Çela with the novels “Embryology”.
