Skënder Brataj, Director of the National Medical Emergency Center spoke to “Top Talk” about the coronavirus situation while the numbers of new cases are increasing.
“Any increase in these numbers is an alarm signal, it is not discussed to be careful and be ready for any kind of scenario, the more it adds the closer to the limit of possibilities we go. These 2-3 days we are monitoring and analyzing the situation and we will see in more detail the current situation, measures and the current situation, the moment of the vaccine has come that we have to walk and take faster steps, but it is the last moment of this pandemic, to this problem we have “, said Brataj.
As we are about 2 months before the April 25 elections, Brataj stressed that he is against total closure. He spoke out against full quarantine throughout Albania because it would be severe for the economy and for Albanians from a mental health standpoint.
“I would refer to the line they follow in all other countries. Even the most restrictive measures have yielded results in almost all countries. I would not talk about a quarantine as it is unacceptable at the moment, in this situation and a year after the epidemic for a total closure because both the mental health and the economy of all other sectors are at a limit of equilibrium that may be subject of any outburst or interpretation.
Personally I would be in favor of tightening measures, limiting some activities, more schedules like the whole of Europe until 6pm. I think bars and restaurants are one of the biggest sources and if it were for me, I would have a bigger limit. I would not talk about total closure “, said Brataj.
