Russia has said it has barred British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Secretary of State Liz Truss and several other British ministers from entering the country after Britain imposed measures aimed at isolating Moscow over its unprovoked war on Ukraine.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said on April 16 that the measures, which have been approved in coordination with the United States, the European Union and other allies, are “suffocating” the domestic economy.
Russia announced that 13 British officials are on the ban list, including former Prime Minister Theresa May. Moscow warned that the list would be expanded “in the near future.”
Western sanctions, imposed since Moscow launched its occupation of Ukraine on February 24, have been imposed on Russian officials, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and his family, but also on Russian companies and oligarchs seen as close to the leadership of state.
