Spanish police have seized a giant hemp plantation in the northern province of Navarra.
Guardia Civil officials said the hemp plantation amounted to 415 hectares, which was the largest in Europe for its kind.
Authorities said they had destroyed 415,000 hemp plants worth more than 100m euros because they did not comply with established cultivation rules.
About 50 tons of produce were being dried in a warehouse to turn into cannabidiol, which is used to treat anxiety, insomnia and some other conditions.
The sale and consumption of cannabidiol is legal in Spain but the cultivation of plants other than industrial ones, such as textiles and seeds, is prohibited.
Hemp is almost the same plant as marijuana and contains only 0.3 percent less psychoactive ingredient THC.
