A Western official has confirmed that Russia has reorganized its command of operations in Ukraine, with the new general having extensive experience in combat operations in Syria.
The source told the BBC that the commander of Russia’s southern military district, General Alexander Dvornikov, was leading the Russian occupation.
“This commander has a lot of experience in Russian operations operations in Syria.Said the source.
The new deployment was made in a bid to improve co-ordination between the various units, as Russian groups had previously been organized and commanded separately, the official said.
Russia has so far struggled to achieve its war goals 45 days after the invasion, failing to capture ‘targeted’ cities.
