Russian President Dmitry Peskov’s spokesman has acknowledged that Russia has significant military losses in the war with Ukraine.
He has claimed that this is a great tragedy for Russia as well, as many troops have been lost since the beginning of the war.
Peskov added in his statement that the withdrawal from the Kiev region and from the city of Chernihiv is an act of goodwill, to remove tension during the ongoing peace talks.
Peskov reiterated Russia’s reasons for describing it as a “special military operation”, saying that Ukraine had become “anti-Russian” and Russia was really “nervous” as NATO began to move towards our borders.
Russia has previously said 1351 soldiers were killed. The exact number of dead is not known, but a NATO official was quoted in the US media as saying between 7,000 and 15,000,.
