In a video message speaking in Russian, he addresses citizens there: Your president is accused of war crimes. But I do not believe he is acting on your behalf.
Your president knows that if you could see what was going on, you would not support his war. He knows that these crimes betray the trust of every Russian mother, who proudly greets her son as he leaves for ‘joined the army. And he knows they are a stain on Russia’s own honor.
Johnson urges Russian citizens to open the Internet and see what is really happening, and to share it with others. Does he say their country’s troops are committing atrocities in Ukraine, including the massacre of civilians and the rape of women.
