Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, has referred to allegations of sexual violence committed by Russian forces during their occupation of Ukraine.
“The charges include gang rape and rape of children. “The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine continues to seek to verify all these allegations.”.
It also raised concerns about prisoners of war.
“We are also concerned about videos depicting the abuse of prisoners of war by both sides. All prisoners of war must be treated with dignity and full respect for their rights in accordance with international humanitarian law.”.
The Undersecretary said evidence would be gathered to launch an investigation.
