The elections in Hungary closed yesterday and the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban has declared victory, thus winning his fourth term and the triumph of his party Fidesz.
After the positive result for him, he addressed a crowd in a 10-minute speech, where he said that this was a very big victory for him, and for his party.
“We have such a victory that can be seen from the moon, but it is certain that it can be seen from Brussels. “We will remember this victory for the rest of our lives because we had to fight against a large number of opponents.” said Orban in his speech Sunday night, citing a number of his political enemies including the Hungarian left and the “bureaucrats” in Brussels.
He was challenged by six united opposition parties seeking to oppose what they called Orban’s “illiberal” revolution that he and his Fidesz party have pursued for 12 consecutive years in office.
Hungarians voted on April 3 for parliamentary elections. 8 million people had the right to vote in these elections.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s party took a commanding lead in Hungarian elections, according to an early count that appeared to dim the chances of a six-party opposition alliance https://t.co/qqc4OIzpIr
