Specialists recommend unifying the dates for the ban on fishing during the breeding season in Lake Prespa.
The end of April and the beginning of May create the optimal conditions for the reproduction of fish in this lake that is divided between Albania, Greece and Northern Macedonia, but each country sets different dates for the prohibition of fishing during this period, which according to specialists does not brings efficiency. This request has also been raised in the Prespa Cross-Border Management Committee and a solution is expected to be reached.
There are 23 species of fish in the waters of Lake Prespa, while the area enjoys the protected status as one of the most important natural resources in the southeastern region of the country.
