Health centers have been targeted by the Russian military since the early days of the attack on Ukraine.
More than 80 health facilities have been attacked by Russian forces during more than a month of fighting, according to the World Health Organization.
The attacks killed 72 people and injured 43 others, including patients and staff on duty, said WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus.
These actions are a violation of international human rights law and should be stopped immediately, he adds.
Mike Ryan, director of the WHO Health Emergency Program, explains that during conflicts, it is part of the military strategy to deny people health care.
“They directly target the weakest, use them as chess pieces in a horrible killer game.”says Ryan.
The most serious attack is the bombing of Mariupol maternity hospital in early March, which caused several deaths and dozens of injuries, including children, women, doctors.
