The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo has filed an indictment against a person for the Izbica massacre.
This body announces that the indictment has been filed against the defendant with the initials MA, of Albanian nationality, residing in Belgrade, a citizen of the Republic of Serbia.
The indictment against MA was filed due to a well-founded suspicion that he committed the criminal offense “War crime against the civilian population”, sanctioned by Article 142 in conjunction with Article 22 of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (hereinafter “LP “SFRY”) as a law in force at the time of the commission of the criminal offense, currently sanctioned under the criminal offense “War Crimes in Serious Violation” of Article 3 common to the Geneva Conventions “, stated in the notice.
The SPRK adds that the MA participated alongside the Serbian police in the execution of 130 people in Izbica, Skenderaj. “During the investigation phase, sufficient relevant legal evidence has been provided that proves the well-founded suspicion that the above-mentioned defendant, in co-perpetration with other persons of the Serbian police and military forces, participated and contributed to the commission of the criminal offense for which he is is accused “, it is explained in the communiqué. The Special Prosecution adds that they have managed to provide material evidence such as video recordings, autopsy reports and statements of 100 witnesses to support the indictment.
On March 28, 1999, 130 Albanian civilians were executed by Serbian police in Izbica. 12 people survived the massacre.
