The United Nations Office for Human Rights has confirmed today that 1,119 civilians have been killed so far, and 1,790 others have been injured since Russia launched its offensive in Ukraine.
Among the dead were also 15 girls and 32 young boys as well as 52 children, whose gender has not yet been determined. These figures refer to the period between February 24 and March 26.
However the real death toll is thought to be much higher than qa as these reports still require a more accurate confirmation.
The UN said the figures were for the towns of Mariupol, Volnovakha in the Donetsk region, Izium in the Kharkiv region, Popasna and Rubizhne in the Luhansk region and Trostianets in the Sumy region.
