North Korea has tested an intercontinental ballistic missile for the first time since 2017, according to South Korea.
The rocket, which landed in Japanese waters, flew for more than an hour and reached an altitude of more than 6,000 kilometers.
Japanese officials have estimated that the missile has reached a distance of 1,100 kilometers, which means that in theory it can reach the United States.
In recent weeks, the country has tested a host of missiles, including some that the United States and South Korea have estimated to have been tests of intercontinental systems.
