The Ambassador of the European Union in Albania, Luigi Soreca has received the title of honorary citizen for Vlora. The title of honorary citizen was presented by the head of the municipal council of Vlora Migena Balla and was handed over to the ambassador by the mayor of Vlora Dritan Leli.
Through a reaction on Twitter, Soreca thanks the partnership for the integration of Albania.
“Thank you to the Municipal Council and the mayor of Vlora, Dritan Leli who are such real partners in our joint efforts to bring Albania closer to the EU. “I am very grateful that I became an honorary citizen of this truly European city that proves the transformative power for EU integration.” wrote Soreca.
While Dritan Leli writes that today’s ceremony was a temporary greeting while describing Soreca as an adult near the sea who loves Vlora very much.
At the beginning of his trip to Albania, with significant stops, especially in Vlora, I had the honor to give the title ‘Honorary Citizen of Vlora’, to the Ambassador of the European Union in Albania, Luigi Soreca.
Today’s ceremony was only a temporary greeting because his visits to Vlora that he loves so much, as a grown man near the sea, will be everlasting. It will remain equally unchanged my hospitality and that of the people of Vlora for the man who took care of the development of the city, as he would take care of a land that the sun, the sea and history have always associated with him. “With him and from him, Europe has been here!” writes Leli.
