Prime Minister Edi Rama this Saturday in a meeting with farmers presenting the Social Resistance Package, stated that the Government will not reduce the oil tax, but for farmers will be offered 500 million ALL plus tax-free oil, for a total of 1.45 billion ALL.
The Prime Minister also clarified the logic of why the oil tax is not removed. According to him, this can not be done because the rest can not be compensated.
“Who is hit by oil taxes? Hit those who have cars. Those who have cars have more money than those who do not. We are subsidizing the ticket price so that the price does not increase. Farmers are hit. This is true. And so we have a fund for farmers to get an amount of oil so they don’t have problems“, Said Rama.
In his speech, Rama warned of an energy crisis in the coming months due to lack of rainfall. He said that for this reason they will be forced to buy energy at high prices.
The head of government indicated that the level of hydropower plants has approached the technical level and production will have to be stopped.
