Mayor Erion Veliaj chose to celebrate today with the young footballers for whom the municipality has renovated the sports fields between the park and the clean air offered by the Artificial Lake.
“Let’s enjoy the new field, with natural grass carpets. Today we started the Summer Day in a new field because we want to, in cooperation with your coaches, dedicate these facilities to the young ages, to the U-11 footballers we have today, or to those who tomorrow will become the greatest talents in football, ”said Veliaj.
Veliaj promised the young athletes that the municipality will continue investing everywhere in the capital, for new sports fields, for all those who want to engage in healthy living.
“I promised all the teams of Tirana – now that we have the Football Association of Tirana – that as we have done this field, we will do the same wherever we find a free field, to turn it into a field fantastic for boys and girls who want to engage in healthy living. I know not everyone will become like Messi or Ronaldo, but what is important is that everyone will become good citizens. Whoever plays on the team knows that life has losses, but losses do not last forever. Life also has victories, but even victories do not last forever. Above all, this sports system that we have in Tirana will give us boys and girls, who tomorrow will become better managers, better architects, better engineers, better doctors, also from the fact that they were athletes who at a young age and have learned to play in a team, and to face victories, but also losses “said the mayor.
He expressed his gratitude to all parents, but also to the coaches who contribute to the children growing up with sports discipline. “One of the reasons why we are all here is because the parents have made the decision to introduce the boy or girl to sports, for a healthy life, but also to be part of a team and learn to play in a team. We appreciate the whole investment of the parents and we thank them immensely, but in the meantime we will give applause to all the coaches who work with the super football team for children in the Municipality of Tirana, because maybe adult football has more attention, but “If it were not for the dedication, not only of the families, but also of a whole team of coaches, who in every corner of Tirana have engaged hundreds of boys and girls in the youth teams, we would not have the success we have today in Tirana.” he stressed.
He called on all citizens to become more solidary on this Summer Day. “Today is Summer Day. It is the day when a new season begins, but it is also a moment when nature is reborn and I believe that each of us must be reborn on our own. We need to think if there are people in need that we can lend a hand to; if we have a classmate who does not have a ball or a uniform that we can give him or her; if there is someone who needs a hand to help with the lessons; if someone needs it, tell them to train together, to become like the others. “I see it as an opportunity for not only nature to open, but for each of us to open a little more.” Veliaj closed his speech.
Summer Day on this March 14 turned into a real celebration of colors and activities organized along the Boulevard Dëshmorët e Kombit in Tirana, in Skënderbej Square, in the Lake Park, Youth Park, etc ..
