A group of Turkish citizens and their relatives, who are sheltered in a mosque in the southern Ukrainian city of Mariupol, are seeking to be evacuated as soon as the fighting approaches.
Speaking to the daily Hürriyet on the phone about the situation, Hsmail Hacıoğlu, head of the local Muslim association, said that there were 86 people in the city besieged and bombed incessantly by Russian forces, with their eyes on Ankara to remove them from andej.
“Nearly 30 of these people are in the mosque, while others are waiting at home,” Hacıoğlu said. “They are not all Turkish citizens; “The group includes 34 children and wives and other relatives of Turkish citizens,” he added.

Diplomatic sources told the Daily Sabah that there are currently 250 Turkish nationals stranded in various regions of Ukraine.
