The sport of cycling started its official activities on Saturday morning with the Tirana Tour, a competition which restores this sport to normal after two years with truncated activities due to the pandemic.
The President of the Albanian Cycling Federation, Skënder Anxhaku tells more about this activity.
Skënder Anxhaku: This activity has more to do with the massification of this sport but also to see the condition of the athletes where they are before the important international competitions that we will have in the coming months in the European, world or Balkan championship.
According to the race commissioner Aben Pinari, this race is of a medium difficulty level, but it will be attended by three categories with different distances ranging from 42 km for young people to 90 km for adults.
Arben Pinari: All the main teams of Albania participate, such as Tirana, Partizan, Skëndebeu, Teuta. The age groups are from cadets, young people and adults.
The race started from Lake Tirana and then continued to Bradashesh in Elbasan to close everything in Petrela Castle.
At the end of the race Erdi Pilku of the Tirana team closed the race first in the cadet category, where he covered 42 km for 1h18m, for young Henri Hysa of Teuta who developed the distance of 74 km for 2h and 21m, while for adults first in the finish of Petrela reached Kristel Sota of Apollonia of Fier, with a time of 2h and 47m.
