The Institute for War Studies said Russian operations around Kiev had “largely stalled in the last 24 hours” and that forces were now aiming for “resupply and repair”.
“Russia’s uncoordinated and sporadic offensive against major Ukrainian cities supports Ukraine’s General Staff assessment that Russian forces have growing supply problems and have lost initiative”.
On the social network Twitter, the Institute has posted a photo showing Russia’s advance towards western Ukraine.
In addition, the Institute said there were reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin was conducting an internal purge of “offers from generals and intelligence personnel” to recalibrate Russia’s war efforts.
