YouTube said on Friday it was blocking Russian state-funded Russian media channels.
“Our community guidelines prohibit content that denies, minimizes or trivializes well-documented violent events, and we remove content in connection with the Russian occupation of Ukraine that violates this policy. “Accordingly, in effect immediately, we are also blocking YouTube channels linked to Russian state-funded media, globally,” YouTube said.
In a statement on Twitter today, YouTobe said it had begun blocking RT and Sputnik YouTube channels across Europe.
He added that with the start of the war in Ukraine by Russia, the technology company has taken measures to stop making money and to significantly limit the recommendations for Russian state-funded media channels.
“We stopped making money and significantly limited the recommendations for Russian state-funded media channels. Both actions are global and indeterminate. Our Trust and Security team has worked to quickly remove the abusive content. “We have removed hundreds of channels and thousands of videos in violation of our Community Guidelines, including our policies on fraudulent practices and misinformation,” said YouTobe.
