Brazilian national football legend Ze Roberto has made a bold claim saying he can easily play for Pep Guardiola Manchester City squad, even though he is 47 years old.
The former midfielder played with Palmeiras until December 2017, when he was 43 years old, ending a 23-year career in which he played for Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Hamburg, among others.
But even Ze Roberto stays in a spectacular physical shape even though he has not played professional football for five years.
This has led the former Bayern player to claim, albeit jokingly, that he can be accepted into Pep Guardiola’s Man City squad, which is considered one of the best teams in the world.
Roberto said in an interview with Sky Sports: “I have never stopped training.”
“If I wore the Man City shirt today, in the physical form I am in and the way they play, I could easily play in the center of midfield as they are a team that never loses the ball.”
His claim comes despite the Premier League champions boasting a high level of technical ability in addition to extreme physical shape.
Ze Roberto himself has accumulated 1000 appearances on the field and has achieved a record of 84 matches with the Brazilian national team, which include two world cups.
He even says that even Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo can not repeat his feat to play professional football after the age of 40.
