Driving a truck is considered a man’s job, due to the difficulties of the truck driver profession, but Miranda Dervishi, 46, from Ishmi, has accepted this challenge for years.
Not just her. Gender stereotypes about male occupations are not part of her family.
“I have two boys by truck. Even the truck brothers. Even the bridesmaids of the truck brothers, even the sister. We are all a family of truck drivers…. “When you do this work with passion and in the family, it is something very special”, he said Miranda Dervishi, truck driver.
Miranda emigrated to Italy in the mid-1990s. The desire to challenge myself was great, so I left the profession of hairdresser. Before becoming a truck driver, she worked for over 10 years as a bus driver in the Lombardy region.
“I tried to register for a plane license, for pilots, but I was not given the opportunity because I was old. “I regret it,” she said.
In addition to the sacrifices as a mother of three, because of her profession, she faces an extremely masculine environment where she is often bullied.
“It’s normal to be teased when they see a woman doing a man’s job and hard work. It’s challenging, but I do not motivate them to harass me further. I respect them and make every trucker representative as a family. “We need a very regular behavior,” she said.
Silvio is Miranda’s second son. Like his mother and he has decided to change profession.
“I learned about cooking, but I worked hard there and I was not paid at all. “I worked as a truck driver for a year as a worker and I went to my account, because there is money there, I was working”, said Silvio.
In their family, everyone loves the work they do, while also supporting Jenny, Miranda’s little girl who is learning and dreaming of one day becoming an airplane pilot.
To be free and to have love for what he does. “It matters,” said Jenny.
