Ukrainians are trying to resist the Russian army offensive and in the absence of order, in some cities citizens have taken the punishment of robbers by tying them to poles.
Tough scenes from some cities show the accused as robbers tying on public poles with plastic tools setting an example for others trying to take advantage in difficult moments.
Today’s footage showed a young man tied up in an attempted robbery of a gas station in Kiev, and his catchers had even lowered his pants as a man lectured him on the fact that he was abusing the chaos caused by the war.
Many supermarkets, banks and gas stations have been looted since the start of the Russian attack two weeks ago.
Another problematic factor is the distribution of weapons by the government to defense volunteers, who in some cases have used them to loot.
In several other cases, volunteers have reportedly stripped and beaten robbers.
The besieged city of Mariupol is reportedly short of water and electricity. Shops have been looted as residents search for essential living items.
Lack of telephone services has made citizens more timid as authorities push to stay in emergency shelters until the situation is clarified.
