The by-elections held in 6 municipalities of the country on Sunday will give the winning candidates one year in the post of Mayor, until the next local elections are held in the country. From the preliminary results, SP has won in 5 municipalities: Durrës, Vora, Rrogozhina, Lushnja and Dibra. The number of votes for the remaining two municipalities still continues. The last boxes are being counted in Shkodra and Durrës.
In these elections, the Socialist Party was facing two opposition forces, the Democratic Party and the “House of Freedom” coalition, in which Sali Berisha was included, but the CEC decided to leave out the Democratic Party-Re-establishment Commission, leaving only the SMI coalition as an electoral subject. PDK, but without excluding the candidates nominated by the former prime minister. So far, the only municipality where the DP ranks second is Rrogozhina while in the others, the candidates of the Freedom House are positioned in second place.
In all six municipalities, turnout figures are lower than in the previous year, in the April 25 general election. Voting took place normally, with the exception of some polling stations, mainly in Shkodra, where voting was not possible due to bad snowy weather. The voting process in the March 6 elections was accompanied by a calm political climate, while there were calls for citizens to take part in the voting.
So far, SP has won in four municipalities, while PD only in the municipality of Rrogozhina ranks second. In the others it is the third as the second place is occupied by the candidates of the “House of Freedom”.
Vora- After the counting process began, the first municipality where the result was revealed was Vora, where the Socialist Party candidate won. The socialist leader of the Tirana region, Erion Veliaj, describes the victory of the left in Vora as an appreciation for the work done in this municipality. In second place was the candidate of the “House of Freedom”, Lulzim Vrana and finally, that of the Democratic Party, Ymer Marku.
Rrogozhina – The vote counting process also ended in Rrogozhina where the victory was won by Edison Memolla, ranked by Ferdinand Saraçi of the DP and Hekuran Xhani of the “House of Freedom” coalition.
Lushnje – SP candidate, Eriselda Sefa won in the municipality of Lushnja with 21,477 votes, followed by Elton Bano of the “House of Freedom” with 11,238 votes and finally the PD candidate, Indrit Sefa with 3,809 votes.
Shkodra – According to data from the CEC, so far the percentage votes are distributed as follows for the Municipality of Shkodra.
Socialist Party:
Majlinda Angoni – 16,465 votes or 39.39%
Democratic Party:
Xhemal Bushati – 6,874 votes or 16.45%
Freedom House Coalition:
Bardh Spahia – 18,460 votes or 44.16%
Durrës – According to data from the CEC, so far the percentage votes are distributed as follows for the Municipality of Durrës: votes or 44.65%
Socialist Party:
Emiriana Sako – 39,090 votes or 58.46%
Democratic Party:
Luan Hoti – 7,928 votes or 11.86%
Freedom House Coalition:
Ardian Muka– 19,844 votes or 29.68%
Dibër – According to data from the CEC, so far the percentage votes are divided as follows for the Municipality of Dibra: votes or 28.90% votes or 12.17%
Socialist Party:
Rahim Spahiu – 13,995 votes or 60.82%
Democratic Party:
Luan Haka – 4,437 votes or 19.28%
Freedom House Coalition:
Promise Kryemadhi – 4,478 votes or 19.46%
