The submission of voting materials continues in all five municipalities of the country.
In some cities, heavy rains have made work difficult.
Voters in Vora, Shkodra, Durres, Dibra, Lushnja and Rrogozhina voted today in the by-elections to appoint the new mayor. Over 160 thousand citizens with the right to vote responded to the call to participate in the voting between the candidates of the SP, DP and the coalition “House of Freedom”, but in the polling stations there was a low number of participants.
In all six municipalities, turnout figures are lower than in the previous year, in the April 25 general election.
Voting took place normally, with the exception of some polling stations, mainly in Shkodra, where voting was not possible due to bad snowy weather. The voting process in the March 6 elections was accompanied by a calm political climate, while there were calls for citizens to take part in the voting.
Candidates of the Socialist Party, the Democratic Party and the “House of Freedom” coalition ran in these elections, with the exception of Dibra, where in addition to the candidates of the above three entities, a candidate from a fourth political force also ran. The new local leaders in these municipalities will have a short 1-year term.
