“Fem Fest”, a festival for Albanian women has opened the artistic performances of the edition coming to Tirana for the first time and not without purpose, but to give the idea of a different March 8.
This festival, which aims to raise awareness of women and to change sad realities in their lives, was greeted last night by the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj. The mayor praised the initiative of the artists, but especially the cause of a different March 8.
He brought to attention one of the initiatives that favor women in the Albanian family. “We decided to give economic aid to women, because we had seen that when the husband received economic aid, she immediately went to a bar or a betting shop. “Meanwhile, we had seen that when a woman received economic assistance, she immediately went for clothes, food and books for the children,” said the mayor, adding that there is no cause more worthy and valuable than the education of women and girls.
“Femfest” is built with a platform for impressive performances, debates, songs, music, exhibitions, fashion shows and a red shoe protest. Part of the festival that started last night and will continue until March 8 will be artists, activists, writers, politicians and singers who through various art genres will give voice to problems that are not spoken, or those that are not heard. Proceeds from the tickets will go to 4 scholarships for the best students of the University of Arts.
