The White House has criticized Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham after he called on Twitter for the assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The American said that the only way to end the Russian occupation of Ukraine is “for someone in Russia to kill this boy.”
Graham, who represents South Carolina, wrote on Twitter: ““You would do your country and the world a great honor.”
On Friday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters: “This is not the position of the United States government and certainly not a statement you would hear from anyone working in this administration.”
Graham’s comments have angered Russia, with the country’s ambassador to the United States calling them “hysterical Russophobia.”
