Due to the infrastructure, the Gjilan / Gnjilane Detention Center was selected by Denmark for the transfer of prisoners.
The three-hectare space, operational about 7 years ago, will accommodate Danish prisoners, if an agreement is reached.
The maximum capacity of this center reaches up to 300 prisoners. The cells where Danish prisoners are expected to stay are different.
Until the signing of the agreement, these spaces are used by Kosovars who have a problem with the law, who after three months will have to vacate the place for Danish prisoners.
In addition to changes in infrastructure, there will be changes in staff, which is currently low in number. According to the Minister of Justice, the management staff will be Danish and the number is expected to increase.
Payments for staff, mode of operation, implementation of Danish, Kosovar and international laws are some of the points of the agreement that are not yet known.
But, it is intended that this ten-year agreement, from which Kosovo benefits 210 million euros, be finalized in June this year.
