The Czech Republic is no longer able to cope with the wave of coronavirus infections.
The country recorded a record number of cases, over 66,000, within the last 24 hours. 57 thousand of them are new infections, but almost 9,800 others are reinfection. Local health authorities are somewhat warmed by the fact that the number of hospitalized is currently 2,653 – lower than in previous waves of the pandemic.
The country of 10 million still lags behind EU countries in terms of the rate of population immunization. 63.2 percent of the population is considered fully vaccinated today.
