Thai actress Nida Patcharaeraphong has tragically fallen to her death from a speedboat she was riding with her friends.
37-year-old Nida was going by boat to a restaurant on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok when she lost her life on February 24th.
She was reportedly seen sitting in the back of the boat but the circumstances of the tragic fall still remain unclear.
The boat had returned and searched for Nida for about 20 minutes until her friends decided to call the authorities, who sent a group of 30 divers into the area.
Nida’s brother, Dais Dejab joined in for the rescue bake and spotted something in the water, which was later identified as the body of the Thai actress and model.
He said: “The pain that everyone in the family feels is unbearable. “We loved our sister so much for bringing us so much happiness.”
“I want to thank everyone for their efforts. “I came now to take him home.”
Nida’s stunned mother, Panida Siriyuthyothin, said her daughter was a good swimmer and could not believe what had happened.
“The night before she disappeared I thought about her, I wanted to call her. “When I heard the news I could not believe it, again I hoped it was not.”
Doctors who performed Nida’s autopsy confirmed that she had died from drowning, and discovered a deep crack in her left leg that may have been caused by the boat or its propeller.
The Nonthaburi police chief said the owner of the speedboat will face operating charges of the vehicle with an expired license.
“We found out that the boat had an expired operating license and that the person running it at the time of Nida’s fall did not have a license to do so.”
“Both of them could face charges of negligent homicide but no formal charges have been filed yet.”
Nida’s body has been returned to her family who are organizing the funeral.
