An unusual event took place this morning at the intersection of “Irodhu Tou Atiku” and “King George B” streets in Greece, a few meters away from the prime minister’s office and the presidency building.
According to local media, a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old man in a drunken state, lost control and collided with the perimeter wall of the Greek presidency, causing material damage, but fortunately without risk to life.
Found at the scene, the police found that the driver of the vehicle was drunk. The police took measures against him by imposing a fine of 700 euros and revoking his license for 60 days. The officers allowed the drunk driver to leave with his car, even though the latter had suffered severe material damage.
Asked by the media, the Attica traffic police directorate stated that the driver of the vehicle was drunk, but had not exceeded the amount provided by law to arrest him. They were content with administrative measure even though the event could have turned into tragedy for the guards and dozens of police officers outside the building of the Greek presidency and prime minister.
