A restaurant has set an “extended” display code for its customers by banning them with tattoos, “heavy” jewelry or large format prints.
The management of Bedouin Restaurant in Sydney, Australia say the code was launched to stop customers from ‘intimidating’ others.
Customers are notified of new rules by a note placed at the entrance to the premises.
The new home policy says that customers can not have “visible tattoos”, large jewelry or clothing with large firm prints.
Manager Poata Okeroa told the daily Daily Telegraph“We value our customers and community standards so we have enforced house rules such as dress code that discourage intimidating appearances.”
The Middle Eastern cuisine restaurant opened three years ago and is run by Poata Okeroa, Eric Jury and Julian Tobias.
The venue turns into a festive bar on the weekend and hosts well-known names like tennis player Nick Kyrgios, Scott Eastwood, singer Rita Ora or director Taika Waititi.
British Michael Mcelroy, who works in a restaurant in Manly and has tattoos on his neck and arms, complained to the local network 7News for the rules.
“I have never heard of such policies in Australia, no one has ever stopped me for my tattoos, how can these rules be invented like this?”
