Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has called for an “objective investigation” following an article in the Argentine media saying that former President Mauricio Macri was preparing the army for the invasion of Venezuela.
The alleged maneuvers of 2019 were for an invasion of the country in cooperation with Colombia, according to Maduro.
“I hope that someone in Argentina will raise their voice for this complaint, and for the preparations of the Argentine army to invade the country from Colombia, this is not a joke,” said Maduro.
President Maduro, like his predecessor Hugo Chávez, has often denounced US-orchestrated attacks on Venezuela by its allies in the region.
The media write that the Argentine army has carried out the training campaign called “Puma” in the period April-July 2019, “for the invasion of Venezuela.”
