The government should review taxes levied on fuel. This is the opinion of economics expert Klodian Muço, according to whom this heavy fiscal burden should be distributed, as it is filling the state coffers at the expense of citizens.
Consumers pay 8 taxes on every liter of oil, where 5 of them, that of excise, VAT, turnover tax, carbon tax and relicensing tax are collected by the government.
Other fees such as marking, scanning and pump control go to the private companies that provide these services.
In total, the value of taxes reaches about 113 ALL, while today in the market a liter of oil is sold for 199 ALL. The entry into force in January 2022 of the excise indexation with inflation has led to a significant increase in fuel prices in the country.
Experts do not rule out the possibility of further price increase following the impact of Ukraine-Russia tensions. Currently on the stock exchange a barrel of oil is traded for 92.6 dollars per barrel.
