This Monday, the trial against President Ilir Meta resumes in the Constitutional Court. But President Meta does not seem to ‘mind’, as just a few minutes before the start of the session in the Constitutional Court announced for 10:00, he posted a photo from Lake Tirana, where he apparently went for a walk.
“Dear friends, I wish you a good week!”, The President wrote next to the photo, seemingly unperturbed about his trial.
The president has chosen not to physically participate in the ongoing trial against him, leaving the defense in the hands of lawyers, who caused the process to drag on as they sought time to notify the head of state of what happened at the hearing.
On February 3, the presidency submitted a 140-page file questioning the legitimacy of the Assembly that fired Ilir Meta, while the socialist majority was accused of political revenge.
The submissions of Ilir Meta’s lawyers did not convince the constitutional judges who addressed a number of questions to the head of state.
The process that is taking place against Ilir Meta in the Constitutional Court is showing that the links of the judiciary do not differ much from each other, as three meetings were not enough to close the trial against the head of state.
