Five tourists and two crew members were killed after their plane crashed during a tourist flight on the famous Nazka Lines in Peru.
There were no survivors among the seven passengers on the Cessna 207, the transport ministry said. The tourists were two kilos and three visitors from the Netherlands, the civil protection office said.
The mysterious Nazca Lines are one of Peru’s main tourist attractions and are carved into the desert at a length of 350 kilometers south of the capital Lima. This attraction, which is also a UNESCO heritage, dates back to 500 BC, and depicts animals, plants, imaginary beings and geometric figures several kilometers long.
The plane had crashed tragically at the start of flight over them, on the side of a road. As a result of the impact, the plane had exploded and the bodies of the victims were burned, reported the local network Canal N. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Peruvian Ministry of Transport.
